Mrs. Eleanor Hertel, 70, of 347 Woody Road, Adairsville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011.

Mrs. Hertel was born in Jacksonville, Fla., Sept. 24, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Hugh and Gwen DuPree. She was a graduate of Montgomery College and loved weaving and art. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, loved gemstones, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, John Hertel, of Adairsville; her beloved daughter, Gwen Hennessee and son-in-law Jack Hennessee of Calhoun; and her son, Matthew Saunders and daughter-in-law Tammy Saunders of Florida; one sister, Marnie Braswell of Flowery Branch; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hennessee Wilson, Haley, Matt, and Ana Kate Hennessee; several step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Caleb Wilson; and a special companion, her Lhasa Apso, Sam.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. at Buford First United Methodist Church, 285 E. Main St., Buford, GA 30515. Phone, 770-945-7438.

The service will be officiated by Rev. Sondra Jones. The family is asking that flowers or plants to express sympathy be sent to 722 Riverside Drive N.W., Calhoun, GA 30701, or a donation may be made to Buford First United Methodist church in Mrs. Eleanor Hertel's name.
