Vivian Allen Collier, 99, passed away peacefully at her home near Woodland, GA, on Friday, August 3, 2018. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at the chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Manchester, with Chaplain Allison Owen officiating. Entombment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the service.
Born on December 18, 1918, Vivian was the daughter of George Mack and Susie Carlisle Allen. She was one of eleven children. She was crowned Miss Georgia in the 1936 Miss Georgia Pageant. Vivian married Billy Collier in 1938 and they raised two sons, Bill and Bob. For 50 years, Vivian worked at the Talbot State Bank and served on the Board of Directors there. She was a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church until its closure. Vivian was preceded in death by husband, Billy, and her son, Bob.
Survivors include her son, Bill and his wife, Hilda; her daughter-in-law, Melanie Collier and her children Michael and Cara: Tracy and Rosemary Brown, and their children Mallory and Logan: three sisters, Lois, Alma and Sue; one brother Calvin, and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends many thanks to the wonderful care and love of Jean Malone, Jack Reeves, Penny Jones, Mae Walton and Columbus Hospice.
