Thelma M. Hardin, age, 94, passed away on October 29, 2019, at Townsend Park Health and Rehab surrounded by her loving family. Thelma was born in Blue Ridge, GA to Green and Dora (Conley) McVey. After High School graduation in 1943, she worked for Lockheed helping build airplanes for the war effort. She was married to John L. Hardin in 1949.
She worked as a bookkeeper /office administrator for Davis Chevrolet in Blue Ridge. The family moved to Cartersville in 1967 and lived in the Roger’s Station neighborhood. Even though Thelma was widowed in 1972, she was actively employed by Shaw Industries from which she retired in 1994. She was devoted to her two children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, gospel music and family gatherings. Thelma was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and son Larry Hardin, brothers, Hertis, Howell, Harold, and sisters, Shirley Norton, and Mary Sisson.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth (Sam); grandchildren, Autumn Barrett (Darrin), Marc Villegas (Jaime), Lisa Villegas Strater; Great grandchildren, Savannah, Madelyn, Dylan Barrett, Jules Villegas; brother, Jim and sisters, Helen Jones and Jo Jones.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Monday, November 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Pastor Gregory Norton and Ed Sisson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
