Providing area residents an opportunity to “sip, savor, shop,” Rotary Club of Bartow County’s Taste of Cartersville is taking shape. Starting at noon May 4, the six-hour event will be presented in the heart of downtown, 39 S. Public Square.
“The Taste of Cartersville started as such an incredible concept, and it has grown and evolved into something really beautiful,” said Erika Wyant, co-chair of Taste of Cartersville. “We wanted to host an event that people actively look forward to each year.
“Throwing a beer and wine festival was a fun idea, but we really wanted this event to be something that was a true destination for all ages — all while financially benefiting integral nonprofits in our area. As residents, we are aware of how impressive our Downtown Business District is, so our goal was to feature all of the merchants who make Cartersville and Bartow County so wonderful.”
Currently seeking restaurants and businesses to serve as vendors, Wyant shared tickets and sponsorship opportunities also are available.
“As the initial idea bloomed, the event has turned into a beer and wine festival with live bands; a food tasting; a merchant spotlight with vendor booths for local business owners; a chili cook-off; a homebrew competition; and a kid zone with a performance stage, inflatables and face painting,” she said. “In addition to all of these activities, we'll also have a premier VIP event, which is an event within the event and requires a whole team in itself.
“Some of those details will remain a surprise until closer to event day, but what we can share now is that the VIP experience will include an elite catered menu, full bloody mary and mimosa bar, early access to the event and an after-party, all within a climate-controlled tent. The VIP experience will be limited to 100 attendees.”
As Wyant noted, Taste of Cartersville will serve as a fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting Advocates for Children, Etowah Scholarship Foundation, Etowah Valley Humane Society, Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter, Good Shepherd Foundation, Red Door Food Pantry and Tranquility House.
“The Rotary Club was eager to offer this event because it strongly aligned with their views on philanthropy,” she said. “Bringing our community together for a day of food and fun while financially supporting seven local charities was a vision that everyone could stand behind and feel good about. … We've seen the generosity in this community and know that this will be such an impactful event.”
Admission to the rain-or-shine event will be free.
According to a news release, “Food prices will vary and be determined by each individual vendor. Beer and wine wristbands can be purchased in advance at tasteofcartersville.com for $45 or for $50 on the day of the event and include unlimited samples.”
