Michelle Lanham Strickland

Michelle Lanham Strickland, 52, of Cartersville passed away April 15, 2019, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Michelle was born at Sam Howell Memorial Hospital February 14, 1967, to Patty Abernathy Babb and the late Bradley Lanham.

She was a graduate of Adairsville High School Class of 1985. She was most recently employed by the Bartow County School System. She genuinely loved all of her coworkers and every student she taught and yelled at in the halls.

In 2017 Michelle was diagnosed with a form of cirrhosis of the liver. She fought an uphill battle until she received a kidney and liver transplant in December of 2018. She was still in the process of healing when her father, Bradley Lanham, passed away on January 4, 2019.

Michelle loved to laugh. She was the life of the party and demanded attention when she entered a crowd. She was never soft spoken and wasn't afraid to share her opinion, whether you wanted it or not. If you knew Michelle you've probably argued with her but never won. She was a loyal friend and never met a stranger.

Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents, George Lanham and Helen Cochran Lanham and Lawrence Abernathy and Inez King Abernathy; beloved aunt, Elaine “Bo” Abernathy; precious cousin, Jill McCroy; and her father and mother-in-law, Carl Strickland Sr, and Jackie Hyde Strickland, along with their daughter, Becky Strickland Griffith.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Strickland; mother, Patty Babb; son, Reeves Whitener; daughter, Reagan Whitener and her fiance, Israel Dover;  grandson, Lucas Dover whom she adored; sister, Renee Lanham Wolk and her husband, Dennis; nephews, Joshua Castleberry, and Jordan Castleberry and his fiance, Megan Abbott; stepsons,  Joshua Strickland and Dustin Strickland and his wife, Amanda; sister-in-law, Carla Wilson and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also expecting another grand baby in November.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2019, at 12:00 Noon at Stoner Chapel Baptist Church, Adairsville with Reverends Earl Abernathy and Stephen Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 19, 2018, at Stoners Chapel Baptist Church from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
