Mr. James Henry Weems, Jr. , 81, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 1:00pm at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Jones Street, Cartersville, Ga. The body will lie in state in the church from 12:00pm until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 7, 2018, from 7:00pm - 8:00pm at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia.
Mr. James Henry Weems, Jr. was born May 25, 1937 to the Late Mrs. Annie Bell Weems and Mr. James H. Weems, Sr. He was the fourth child born to very loving, devoted parents. Early Monday morning, James made a peaceful transition into the arms of a loving Savior surrounded by family.
James joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful, committed member until his death. He was a gifted, anointed singer and served as president of the choir for many years. He also served on the trustee board.
He was educated in the Bartow County School System and graduated Summer Hill High School with the class of 1956. He later graduated from Barbering School as a Master Barber. His occupation as a barber allowed him the opportunity to mentor and counsel generations of families which made him a legend throughout the community of Bartow County. This was his ministry and it was very encouraging and uplifting.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: two daughters, Marsha Weems and Wanda Johnson; five grandchildren,Tyson, Nijada, Tiffany, Devin and Kevin; three great grands, Cameron, Tatyana and Aalon, Jr.; two sisters, Mabel (Eddie) Jones of California and Sadie (Calvin) Waye of Brunswick, GA.; one brother, Bennie (Maxine) Weems; one aunt, Thelma Carter; special nephew and great nephew, Ben and Zion; special cousin, Hattie Ruth Hill, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
