Mr. I.W. “Bus” Womack, 88, of Cartersville, died on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at his residence.
Born in Gordon County on January 11, 1930, he was the son of the late Ivy William Womack, Sr. and Mae Sexton Womack.
Mr. Womack loved his church and was the Chairman of the Deacon Board at Bread of Life Church. “Bus,” as he was so fondly known by his family and friends, enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and his Murray tiller. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Jackie Womack, who died in 2001; along with 2 sisters, Evalee Thomas and Inez Womack.
Survivors include his wife Esther Womack of Cartersville; his sons, Charles Womack of Semmes, Alabama, and Richard “Ricky” Womack and wife Monika; his step-children, Randy Vernon, Rosalee Vernon and Sonja Wynn all of Cartersville: 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, 2018, at the Bread of Life Church with The Reverend Max Maybern officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 4, 2018, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Mr. Womack will be carried to the church on Sunday where he will lie-in-state for one hour prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted but for those who choose, donations may be made to the Bread of Life Church in Mr. Womack’s memory.
