Colonels finish 3-0 in Chattooga classic

Another 25-point third quarter allowed the Cass boys basketball team to finish 3-0 in a Thanksgiving Classic Monday in Chattooga.

The Colonels used a 25-point third period to defeat the hosts Saturday, and they used the same formula to down Fort Payne (Alabama) two days later in an 84-73 win.

Cass (4-2) trailed 27-21 after one quarter before tying the game up at 41-apiece by halftime. A 25-12 advantage in the third quarter helped the Colonels finish unbeaten in the classic.

Jordan Ford led Cass with 22 points, including knocking down a 3-pointer in every quarter. C.J. Pipkin (17 points), Braxton Benham (15) and Trey Scott (11) also reached double-figures.

The Colonels will face Kell in their Region 7-AAAAA opener on Dec. 3.
