Barnsley Resort and its team members captured a host of accolades during the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association’s Stars of the Lodging Industry awards celebration.

“We were thrilled to be honored with multiple awards on a state level,” said Shelby Kolb, director of marketing for Barnsley Resort. “For our independent resort in Bartow County, this is a tremendous honor that is truly shared by all of our colleagues. To be recognized by our peers throughout the state is a tremendous vote of recognition.”

On April 12 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, the Adairsville resort won the Culinarian of the Year award, accepted by Chef de Cuisine Evan Babb; Outstanding Community Service award, accepted by Amanda Wright, Kelsey Szewczk and Rodney Fobbs; Outstanding Guest Relations for the implementation of its GMS platform communications, accepted by Kolb; and Outstanding Special Events, accepted by Experience Director Jody Jones.

During the award ceremony, seven Barnsley Resort staff members were recognized: Andrea Bowen, Outstanding Food and Beverage Employee; Dusty LeGrande, Outstanding Manager; Lisa Marie Jones, Outstanding Roomkeeper; Elise deLong, Outstanding Support Department Employee; Chase Rutledge, Stevan Porter Emerging Hospitality Leader; Heather Hatcher, Outstanding Administrative Employee; and Walter Heygood, Outstanding Guest Services Employee.

“The accolades for Chef de Cuisine Evan Babb are especially meaningful considering his growth at Barnsley Resort,” Kolb said. “Evan started at Barnsley as a cook before moving up the ranks.

“Now, to see him quoted in publications, like Forbes, and winning these accolades offers a tremendous opportunity for young cooks and chefs in training to work alongside this talented culinarian. Evan was also just named our Leader of the Quarter by his peers, which he says means even more.”

Noting Barnsley Resort won the Outstanding Special Events award for its Dog Days of Summer program, Jones was “thrilled” for the venue to receive the honor. This is the second consecutive year the resort has collected this award.

“Barnsley is known as one of the most pet-friendly resorts in the region, so it’s rewarding for all of our colleagues to receive this additional honor for a time of year we put a few extra ‘paws’ forward for our pet-loving guests and their furry friends,” Jones said. “While Barnsley Resort is pet friendly year-round, we implemented the Dog Days of Summer promotion to focus on these very important guests — and their human companions — during August since family travelers are back to their school schedules and we’re not quite to our busy fall peak season. We’ve been thrilled to partner with Cyndy Douan and the Georgia Dog Gym for the past two years to showcase her skills and working dogs.”

Situated at 597 Barnsley Gardens Road, the resort centers around a 19th century estate and features numerous amenities — such as restaurants, gardens, boutique spa, golf course, wingshooting and horseback riding — and its new Inn and Georgian Hall.
