Wildcats dominate Villa Rica


Continuing a strong start to the season, the Woodland High girls and boys tennis teams blew through Villa Rica Monday in Region 7-AAAAA play.

Each team won 5-0, and only girls Line 2 singles failed to defeat their Villa Rica opponents in straight sets.

The boys are now 4-0 in region with all five of their wins coming in the form of sweeps. The Wildcats will take on the Carrollton boys today at Woodland for first place.

On Monday, Bryce VanOrder won line Line 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0; Blake Bottegal won on Line 2, 6-0, 7-5; Connor Gunnell won on Line 3, 6-1, 6-2; Alex Banta and Hayden Lusk won on Line 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-1; and Max Costlow and Nick Warren won on Line 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-1.

For the girls, Christy Turner won on Line 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2; Caroline Gore won on Line 2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1; Whitney Harris won on Line 3, 6-0, 6-1; Gloria Gore and Deanna Dodson won on Line 1 doubles 6-0, 6-1; and Breanna Shook and Becky Wesley won 6-0, 6-1.
