Excel faces hard-thrower in 1st-round series
The Excel Christian Academy softball team already has accomplished a great deal this season. The Lady Eagles won their region championship Oct. 11 and will host a first-round state playoff series, beginning with a doubleheader Wednesday at 1 p.m. Excel now just has to win two games to make it to Columbus, but that will not be an easy task as the Lady Eagles will face Stratford Academy and pitcher Mary Wilson Avant. “You can look at their record [13-9] but they have a dominant pitcher that’s committed to Georgia.
