Excel eliminated in Game 3 of first round
Excel came close but the heroics of Savannah Sewell with a bat and in the circle were not enough as it fell to Stratford Academy, 4-3, to end its state playoff run Thursday. The Lady Eagles had their chances, putting runners in scoring position the last four innings of their game and having two runners thrown out in close plays at home plate.
