The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a violent home invasion that occurred just before 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to a press release.

A 911 call was received at 1:44 p.m. from a residence at 11 Cottage Walk, Cartersville. According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, deputies and investigators responded. According to the homeowner, his wife and infant were at home when a black male and white female knocked on the door.

The pair were dressed in all black with “police” written in big letters on their shirts. The pair tied the woman with zip ties and took items from the home.

According to the press release, the woman was visibly shaken, but she and her child were unharmed. Deputies also discovered that a shot had been fired inside the home during the incident.

Neighborhood witnesses reported that the impersonators were driving a black four-door Lexus with a Georgia license plate. Investigators are working on several leads, according to the press release, and the BCSO asks that anyone with information on the crime call 770-382-5050, extension 6030.
