“One of Georgia’s greatest resources is its beautiful landscapes and gardens,” Taylor said. “Garden Week provides an opportunity to celebrate these important areas in our state.”
Taylor and Santini presented a proclamation to members of the Magnolia Garden Club in Cartersville.
Moving on to the agenda, Taylor approved the sale of surplus county property, including a trackhoe and two trucks; authorized an agreement with Georgia Emergency Management to accept a $10,000 grant for equipment to assist in community emergency response team efforts; and authorized the removal of two abandoned roads — Ladds Mountain Road and Post Office Circle in Rydal — from the county system.
He also accepted a storm water maintenance agreement with New Beginnings Baptist Church at 201 Colonel Way in White, which requires the church to retain its own stormwater runoff facilities.
Taylor authorized Pettit Timber Co. to remove more than an estimated 1,000 tons of tree debris from the landfill at $3 a ton and approved a lease option agreement with !0K Energy LLC to lease property at the closed end of the Bartow County Landfill for $5,000 per megawatt per year for the purpose of developing a solar energy project.
He authorized a contract with Skene Concrete for $9,500 to install new sidewalks at Hamilton Crossing Park.
Taylor approved a three-day malt beverage license for FBR Management for a CounterPoint concert and approved an annual renewal for StepinFetchIt, 1911 Joe Frank Harris Parkway.
Taylor approved three of the four rezoning applications submitted.
Commissioner Taylor’s next public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, at 10 a.m. in the Frank Moore Judicial Center on Cherokee Avenue.
