The forecasted inclement weather has resulted in the cancellation of Thursday’s Stars, Stripes and Cartersville event. Generally drawing thousands of attendees, the daylong festivities — a parade in downtown Cartersville and activities at Dellinger Park — would have benefited the Cartersville Morning Optimist Club’s outreach efforts.

According to a news release from WBHF Radio 1450 AM, “With multiple forecasts calling for significant rainfall throughout the area over the next several days, the decision has been made to cancel this year’s WBHF, Georgia Bank and Trust, Cartersville Optimist Club Fourth of July Parade.”

On Wednesday, Optimist Club President David Turner also confirmed the Dellinger Park festivities, including the fireworks, were also called off due to the weather threat. Fireworks and activities — which would have featured live entertainment, pony and camel rides, a petting zoo, a car show presented by the Shriners and food vendors — are being rescheduled for Labor Day.

The Allatoona Yacht Club also has decided to postpone the Fireworks Over Allatoona program. A new date for the Allatoona fireworks show will be announced later.
