The Salvation Army will close its thrift store at 17 Apex Drive today at 5 p.m. In hopes of selling all of the facility's donations, the store will have a sale starting at 9:30 a.m., where shoppers can fill a bag with items for $5.

While the nonprofit's thrift store will temporarily close due to the sluggish economy, its social services program and food pantry have returned to The Salvation Army's site at 16 Felton Place. The social services program is operating Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Among its restructuring, the Cartersville Corps also are welcoming new leaders, with Lts. Lee and Michelle Wilson having joined the local ministry this month. Based on the existing needs of Georgia's communities, the nonprofit's divisional headquarters in Norcross appointed Majs. John and Nancy Fuller, who served with the Cartersville Corps since 2007, as the new corps officers for the Atlanta International Corps in Doraville.
