Mission Road Elementary took the title Friday at the competition held at the Bartow Learning Center.
The competition began 12 years ago between Mission Road and Hamilton Crossing elementary schools and quickly expanded throughout the county.
Students were given a list of 25 books to read at the beginning of August. Battles began in the classroom before moving up to school-wide battles and finally to the county.
There are 10 rounds for the whole competition with no declared winner for each round; scores are calculated after every team has completed their battle. Alternate teams have the opportunity to steal questions if the specified team answers incorrectly.
