He was born, Feb. 11, 1941, in Marietta and was preceded in death by his father, Marshall Forsh Blanton Sr. and mother, Rebecca Reynolds. Mr. Blanton was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and he retired from Rayloc Corporation as a plant supervisor, after 28 years of service. After his retirement, Marshall's hobby and passion was leatherworks for his biker community across the southeast region. He was also a licensed gunsmith.
Survivors include his son, Marshall F. Blanton III of Marietta; daughters and son-in-law, Lynn and Shane Commons of Cartersville and Roxann Stoyles of Rockmart; sister, Nina Ridling of Henry County; grandchildren, Chrissy Robbins of Cartersville, Amy Robbins of Hiram, Dusty Blevins of Rockmart and Damon Blevins of Rockmart; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Home with Mr. Jim Tully officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in Rome. Mike Freeman, Michael Shane Freeman, Mac Adams, Randy Jerrell, Shawn Tuck and Matt "Bulldog" Minter will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 4 to 9 p.m.
