It was raining 3-point baskets in the Cartersville Lady Purple Hurricanes’ victory Friday over the Shiloh Lady Generals in the Pickens holiday basketball tournament.

Hallie Wachsmuth and Stefanie Will had four 3-point baskets each as the Lady Canes (5-5) put on a shooting clinic from the outside by hitting a total of 10 treys.

In all, 50 of Cartersville’s 67 points were scored from the perimeter.

“We are a team that likes to run which was evident by how we scored our points against Sprayberry [Thursday],” Cartersville coach Cindy Moore said. “At the same time, tonight’s game showed that we can adapt to whatever defense we face.”

Opting not to press, the Lady Generals gambled defensively by giving Cartersville numerous outside shots.

“It was up and down against Sprayberry,” Moore said. “Against Shiloh, we played smart basketball on the offensive end by taking advantage of our opportunities from the perimeter.”

Cartersville’s outside shooting paved the way for a 36-24 halftime lead. It was 17-8 after the first quarter. The Lady Canes led by many as 20 points before Moore chose to rest her starters.
