Staff Report

A Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to a residence on Bishop Road, Cartersville, on Friday. The complainant told the officer she received a phone call from a representative at Verizon Wireless. The caller said she owed an outstanding balance of $1,932.68 for a cellphone bill. The victim told police she had no knowledge of the phone or the bill until she received the call. The Verizon representative told her the registered address for the bill is 5457 Cedar Cross Court, Lithonia, but she does not know anyone at that address. She also told the officer, according to the incident report, the bill listed her full name and phone number on the account. The victim was unsure how someone got her personal information.
