Freshmen lead way for Cass XC

The Cass girls cross country team competed at the state meet in Carrollton Saturday and finished 16th out of 32 teams in AAAA.

The team finished with 427 points, just two shy of 15th place Mary Persons and 11 short of 14th place Westover High.

The Lady Colonels were led by their strong freshman class, including Jana Morning who finished 16th out of 219 runners with a time of 21:50.36.

Junior Savannah Hardin finished in 50th place with a time of 22:43.31.

Rounding out the scoring for Cass were freshmen Payton Rogers, Stephane Robledo and Esmeralda Thomas.

Rogers finished 79th with a time of 23:54.58. Robledo came in 110th at 24:37.11. Thomas finished 169 with a time of 26:10.40.

Also competing for the Lady Colonels were senior Lizzy Pahl and junior Angelica Victoria.

Pahl came in 205th with a time of 28:46.20 while Victoria finished 212th at 29:37.06.
