The men’s squad led just 39-35 at halftime, but methodically pulled away in the second period for the comfortable win. Five Golden Eagles reached double-figure scoring, with sophomore guard Alyja Hennings finishing with 24 points to go along with seven rebounds and a 7-of-7 performance from the free throw line. Alijah Bennett and Darreontae Moore both followed with 16 points, and Bennett also contributed five rebounds and five assists to go along with four 3-pointers.
Joe Howard chipped in 10 points and Amonte Potter had eight. The Golden Eagles shot over 42 percent from 3 on a 14-of-33 performance.
The Chattahoochee Tech hoops teams return to the Smyrna Community Center on Sunday for a doubleheader against conference foe Atlanta Metro, with tip-off for the women’s game at 2:30 p.m. and the men’s game to directly follow. The men, at 3-1 in conference, are seeking their fourth straight GCAA Division I victory after dropping an 86-81 opener to Georgia Highlands.
The Atlanta Metro men come into the matchup at 7-5 and 2-2 in the conference.
