Trisha Murphy opened her first business shortly after graduating from Cass High School, ever since, she has grown, diversified and adapted to meet demands. Now, she continues to manage two thriving businesses and multiple locations still excited for what the future holds.

Last year, Murphy opened Glitzy Chiks, a women's boutique specializing in accessories. The shop began in an 800-square-foot space next to Ladies Fitness, which Murphy opened in 1998. Glitzy Chiks has since moved to Cartersville Plaza and 4,600 square feet of floor space in addition to a new location in Acworth opened in March.

"I love Ladies Fitness, but it was just time for me to do something else. It was just time for a change, a time for something different," Murphy said.

Glitzy Chiks carries a variety of women's accessories, including jewelry, purses, wallets, luggage and quilted hand bags in addition to some clothing and shoes. All of the products are grouped throughout the store by color and change regularly with trends and seasons. Glitzy Chiks also offers embroidery and ear piercing.

Her first business was Trisha's, a line of clothing stores with five locations in Cartersville, Rome, Hiram, Calhoun and Canton. Returning to fashion after more than 12 years concentrating on the development of Ladies Fitness, Murphy is excited for growth with Glitzy Chiks and looks forward to developing the business.

"I was in the clothing business for many years and I was just wanting to get back into my element," Murphy said. "And I want to open up more Glitzy Chiks. I want Glitzy Chiks to expand.

"This time, I want to work on a business instead of in it everyday. I've always worked in my business 10, 12 hours a day. So now I want to work on it so it's a huge success."

Murphy hopes to expand into some of the communities where she located Trisha's, generally within a 30-mile radius of Cartersville.

"Cartersville has always been very supportive of me and with this shop, with this shop they have been extremely supportive," Murphy said.

One of Murphy's favorite aspects of Glitzy Chiks is the reaction from children, specifically young girls. She's heard the store called a "princess shop" and "jewelry heaven."

"Of anything I've ever owned or done in my life, this has been the most complimentary shop. Everyday, someone walks in and says something," Murphy said. "It's just been very appreciated. It's just been a blessing, a huge blessing."

Glitzy Chiks is located in Cartersville at 290 Nelson St. and in Acworth at 3344 Cobb Parkway. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call 770-382-2445 or find Glitzy Chiks on Facebook.
