"[Butler] taught school in Ohio then went to Cobb County to teach at Harrison High School for eight years, following that he was assistant principal at Chapel Hill High School in Douglas County, then assistant principal of North Cobb High School in Cobb county," Superintendent Howard Hinesley said. "... He was a social studies teacher, he was a department head, and he was selected by a committee made up of [Assistant Superintendent Ken Clouse], myself, [Finance Committee Chairwoman Kelley Dial], six teachers from the high school representing various disciplines and the president of the [Parent-Teacher Commission].
"After that process and he was selected by that committee overwhelmingly, he interviewed with the school council, and we have received very positive feedback, both orally and in writing, from the school council, which is made up of parents, teachers and businesses, and so we're excited."
There were five candidates for the position. Butler will serve as principal beginning in the fall.
