Once again, and unsurprisingly, the traditional powerhouse finds itself undefeated in October with a great chance to position itself to win a region championship, which has not happened since 2006.
Frank Barden, who has led the Canes to five region titles in 16 seasons, understands very well what the Region 5-AAA game could mean for Cartersville’s pursuit of the 15th region title in school history.
“It is a big game,” acknowledged Barden, who is in his 17th season with Cartersville. “It’s a big game because it’s the next game, but it does add a lot of flavor to it when both teams are 6-0 … It will be a huge challenge for us.”
