Authorities located the remains on a farm May 30. Although identification is still pending, law enforcement believes the deceased was Michael Allen McIntyre, 29, of Cartersville.
McIntyre was last seen May 18 and was reported missing by family on May 24. In the missing person report, the man’s sister said he left the Kelly Trail residence sometime after 11 p.m. May 18 and had not been heard from since. According to the report, McIntyre was involved in a car accident in 2001, which left his friend dead and McIntyre injured. His sister said he had battled depression since that time, but had never experienced suicidal thoughts or behavior.
Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force Commander Capt. Mark Mayton confirmed his agency, along with the U.S. Marshals, executed an arrest warrant on Martin about 7:45 a.m. Monday.
Martin is the second suspect arrested in connection with the case. On June 7, officers arrested Jason Daniel Poston, 30. Bartow County Sheriff’s Office investigators said in a release that, during the investigation, it was discovered that Martin had helped Poston hide and dispose of the body.
Phillip Martin was arrested and charged with concealing the death of another person and abandonment of a dead body. He was being held without bond Monday afternoon.
