The city council also heard reports from the police department, Community Development and the Downtown Development Authority.
Police Chief Robert Jones highlighted the important work his department accomplished in March. Adairsville police answered 1,727 service calls, with each officer responding to an average of 170 calls apiece.
Chief Jones described an operation that occurred last Wednesday where Adairsville police executed two search warrants, seized more than $4,000 in illegal drugs and served 35 arrest warrants on 10 individuals.
"It was a pretty extensive operation that we did," Jones said. "This was the Adairsville Police Department doing Adairsville business. We did it all and kept it all contained in our department, so our officers handled the whole thing."
Three zoning requests, amendments to the "Pawnbrokers" ordinance and the purchase of a police dog were confirmed for the next city council meeting, which is scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, April 12, at city hall.
