Family members and school faculty gathered at the Beavers Drive Senior Center Thursday to celebrate the accomplishments of Bartow County 4-H’ers.
According to its website, “4-H prepares young people to step up to the challenges in their community and the world. Using research-based programming around positive youth development, 4-H youth get the hands-on real world experience they need to become leaders.”
The annual awards ceremony recognized 4-H’ers for project achievement, state congress, leadership, judging events, competition teams and livestock program. The program also recognized volunteers and donors.
This year’s winners are as follows:
Volunteer of the Year — Leyroce Smith.
School of the Year — Woodland Middle School; teacher/advisor for Woodland Middle is Annette New; principal is Lamar Barnes.
Hamilton Crossing Elementary Teacher/Advisor — Carla Smith; principal is Lynn Robertson.
Donor of the Year — New Riverside Ochre.
Cloverleaf Top “Dawg” Awards —Nora Martin, Natalie Burrow, Santiago Alvarez, Addie Evans, Kara Turner, Josh Drexler and Sydney Cook.
Junior 4-H’ers of the Year — Lindsey Craven and Sam Payne.
4-H Excellence in Agriculture — Colyn White and Savannah Porter.
Bartow Senior 4-H Achievement Awards — Kaitlyn Drexler and Daniel Craven.
Leadership in Action — Mary-Clayton Gilbert.
County 4-H Scholarships — Savannah Porter and Mary-Clayton Gilbert.
