Floyd County law enforcement has seen a marked increase in violent gang activity, resulting in multiple shootings, armed robberies and one homicide. Investigators are particularly interested in the public’s help in finding those responsible for a March 16 drive-by shooting on South Broad Street, a fatal shooting at the Chevy Club on April 26, and the May 16 attempted robbery and shooting of a store clerk at the Big H Food Store.
“Individuals who use firearms to pursue a path of violent criminal activity threaten the safety of our communities,” said Special Agent in Charge Christopher Shaefer. “ATF along with our law enforcement partners are committed to removing those violent predators from our streets.”
The Floyd County Police Department and the Rome Police Department along with agents from ATF continue to investigate gang-related violent offenses.
Anyone with information about gang-related violence should contact the ATF case agent at 706-614-1622 or the Floyd County Police Department at 706-252-4243. Callers may remain anonymous.
