For years, A.J. Mosby has been playing in the SEBL summer league on Aubrey Street in Cartersville. This summer, Mosby hopes he'll be playing summer ball in Las Vegas with the NBA logo on his uniform.

Mission Road: Geros finds success in return to wrestling

Cartersville senior Garrett Geros wrestles during the Hiram duals on Nov. 25, 2017. Geros was involved in a one-car wreck on June 2, 2016, leaving him with injuries that resulted in a below-knee amputation of his left leg.

The Southeast Whitfield Duals on Nov. 11, 2017, marked the beginning of a new season for the Cartersville High wrestling team.

Katie Lawhorn’s moves school defenders, earn ride to college

Adairsville midfielder Katie Lawhorn fired off a roughly 35-yard free kick in a Sweet 16 game against Jackson last May. The ball flew by the hapless keeper into the corner of the net, and, as assistant coach Lance Hall described, “You could see the smoke coming off the ball as it went in.”

Doris Evelyn Childers Wilson, 88, of Cartersville, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015.

Tommy Lee Hall

Mr. Tommy Lee Hall, 83, of Rydal, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Gordon County on April 1, 1932, son of the late Sherman and Lilly Haris Hall.

Services for Mr. Tommy Lee Hall are under the care and direction of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun.
