“We hope to see as many candidates as possible for positions at all levels and all areas of the resort in one day,” said Jennifer Ball, director of operations for Barnsley Resort. “The countdown is on to the opening of the Inn and Georgian Hall, and we want to hire the new positions so we have ample time for training before we open.
“We’re very proud of the reputation and accolades our staff and property have earned over the years, and we can’t wait to welcome new members to our award-winning team. The expansion is exciting not only for guests, but also for those who are looking to be a part of their community’s history and shape the Barnsley Resort experience for travelers from near and far.”
Barnsley Resort is looking to fill about 100 full- and part-time positions in a wide range of fields, from retail to culinary arts. Some of the job openings include special events manager, sporting clays guide, grounds gardener, golf cart attendants, executive chef and retail sales associate.
“We are looking to expedite the hiring process for applicants with both human resources and departmental managers dedicating the time to interview as many people as possible in one day, in the same place,” Ball said. “In fact, we are encouraging those interested to complete an application online before coming to the fair, which will speed up and streamline the process even more.
“If applicants aren’t sure if they have the specific experience that may be needed for a position, it’s OK. We are hiring for talent and potential, and will teach new hires the skills needed for any specific position. We encourage any interested job seekers to come to the fair on Jan. 15.”
Situated at 597 Barnsley Gardens Road, the 3,000-acre resort centers around a 19th century estate and features numerous amenities — such as gardens, boutique spa, golf course, wingshooting and horseback riding — and 90 guest rooms and suites.
Nearing the end of a sizable expansion project, Barnsley Resort plans to open the Inn and conference center in March. The endeavor is being led by the architect firm, Cooper Carry; Kent Interior Design; and Choate Construction Co.
“This is such an exciting time for us,” Barnsley Resort General Manager Shawn Jervis said. “To take the award-winning success of Barnsley Resort and build upon it with the significant additions of the Inn and Georgian Hall is such a special and unique opportunity. Once the doors open for the Inn, they will remain open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
“The addition of the 55-room Inn will expand our opportunities to host groups of up to 150 rooms as well as ... the ability for the resort to continue to host multiple small groups simultaneously. Georgian Hall adds much needed new event space, ideally suited for meetings with sophisticated audio-visual and architectural details to enhance any wedding décor. Savannah Ballroom will accommodate up to 380 with traditional banquet rounds, or up to 500 in a theater-style setting, so there is great opportunity to host more special events. We are committed to preserving the intimate, pedestrian-friendly village by connecting the Inn to the existing resort village with more [walking] paths and enhancements. The expansion will not change the Barnsley Resort experience, only enhance it.”
He continued, “We are thrilled for this opportunity for our colleagues, both our loyal colleagues who are with us today, and those we hope to meet on Jan. 15, and can’t wait to share the new Barnsley Resort with our guests and members. We are already booking weddings and corporate meetings in both the Inn and Georgian Hall starting March 1 and beyond.”
