U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., and his wife are recovering after a car accident in Knoxville, Tennessee, early Tuesday morning.
After coming home to Georgia to assist with Irma response, Loudermilk and his wife were headed back to Washington, D.C.
They were traveling East on Interstate 40 when their vehicle was struck from behind by a second vehicle, causing their vehicle to leave the road and flip multiple times, coming to rest on the passenger side, according to a release from Loudermilk’s office.
Both the Congressman and his wife were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries where they were treated and released.
They have been instructed to return to Georgia for follow-up treatment.
