Cartersville Tractor Supply celebrates Pet Appreciation Week

As Pet Appreciation Week gets underway Wednesday, Bartow’s four-legged friends will take center stage at Cartersville Tractor Supply Co.

“Pet appreciation week (PAW) is a time when our love of animals really shines,” said Robert Hansen, manager of Cartersville Tractor Supply. “It’s an opportunity for us to provide information on proper pet care and nutrition. Our store has had [an] annual PAW event since we opened at this location eight years ago.

“Having help from local shelters along with the Etowah [Valley] Humane Society [makes] for [an] easy opportunity [for customers] to see and ask questions. Many dogs and cats need good homes and these great rescue organizations have gone above and beyond to save and rescue countless pets. Tractor Supply is proud to support these great organizations and our teams always get excited this time every year. We have fun along with our customers all while adopting amazing pets.”

According to a news release, some of Cartersville Tractor Supply’s efforts during Pet Appreciation Week from Sept. 13 to 17 will include a sale on pet-related items; pet nutrition demonstrations; a complimentary Greenies dental dog treat while supplies are available; pet adoptions; and a pet supply drive, in which the public can donate supplies, such as leashes, bowls, sealed food, cleaning items, toys, beds and scratching posts, for area rescues and shelters.

During Pet Appreciation Week, Cartersville Tractor Supply’s “great sale on pet foods and supplies starts Wednesday, Sept. 13, and runs through Sunday,” Hansen said. “Saturday, starting at 10 a.m., we will have the Etowah Valley Humane Society out, [a] pet groomer and [a] homeless vet organization grilling burgers and dogs, weather permitting of course. We are a pet-friendly store, so bring your furry loved ones along.”

As Hansen noted, the Etowah Valley Humane Society will continue its partnership with Cartersville Tractor Supply, hosting a pet adoption at the store Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“They are huge supporters of ours,” EVHS Director Bryan Canty said about Cartersville Tractor Supply. “It means the world to us. Having the support of the community ensures our sustainability, not only from a financial and supply of goods and services [standpoint], but just to know that the confidence that we’ve installed in people with the progress we’ve made here means a lot to us. … There’s a belief in what our mission is and that’s to prevent cruelty to, relieve the suffering of [and] providing humane treatment to animals in need.

“We try to never miss an opportunity to showcase the great homeless pets at EVHS. Even if it’s a venue that doesn’t facilitate adoptions, it still gives us an opportunity to educate the general public on responsible pet ownership as well as making them aware of pet overpopulation in our community.”
