School systems to decide on closings by Sunday

With Hurricane Irma due to hit Georgia next week, the Cartersville City and Bartow County school systems are closely monitoring the most current weather updates from Georgia Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service to determine if there will be any school closings.

Because of the unpredictability of the storm, both systems are waiting until Sunday at 2 p.m. to make a final decision.

Parents, students and school employees should check their school systems’ websites and social media networks for updates on the school status for Monday and Tuesday and information on extracurricular activities.

Cartersville also will have a call go out to update parents and students via its automated notification system.
