The 18,850 square foot store — ALDI’s 57th in Georgia — is located on Rowland Springs Road near MLK Drive and is scheduled to open in April according to ALDI spokesperson Kristin Fields.
“The new store will offer four aisles of sales floor space,” she said. “All of our new stores offer a modern and convenient shopping experience, with more room for customers’ favorite products, a robust fresh produce selection, high ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials – such as recycled materials, energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting.
“ALDI is known for offering high-quality products at everyday low prices,” she continued. “We’re able to do this because more than 90 percent of the products we carry are under our exclusive brands. In the ALDI test kitchen, we sample and analyze our products to make sure they meet or exceed the quality and taste of the national name brands.”
The new store is part of an ambitious $1.6 billion capital plan to reach 2,000 stores by 2018. The plan calls for substantial remodeling and enlargement of its current 1,600 U.S. stores. Those stores will be enlarged by about 3,000 sq. ft., offer more refrigeration
capacity and showcase enhanced merchandise capabilities in produce, wine and bakery, to name a few.
“I had a chance to tour a recently remodeled store in Illinois,” ALDI CEO Jason Hart said in an email. “These stores are a necessary step to better reflect the evolution of ALDI into a more complete shopping experience.”
“As customers become more familiar with the stores, it leads to bigger basket sizes and more frequent shops as ALDI fulfills more customer needs. Businesswise, this means these stores will generate significantly greater revenue and represent a new future for ALDI.”
