For several years, Leah Chitwood, a personnel recruiter, spent her lunch breaks peering in the windows of some of Atlanta’s trendiest boutiques. One day, she decided it was time to bring her fashion ideas home to Cartersville. Along with her husband, Michael, Love June Boutique was created.

Begun nearly a year ago as an online store, Love June — an amalgamation of the couple’s two sons names — quickly grew as Chitwood’s personal style proved to be popular with customers too. Bolstered by the success of the online business, they decided to make a “leap of faith,” and leased a downtown storefront and began offering “modern fashion for women of all ages.”

“I have always had a love of fashion,” she said. “I guess my style is ‘bo-ho’ or bohemian. It’s modern, unique stuff that you can wear to the office or on the weekend.

“Not that there aren’t any good stores here already; there are several excellent boutiques in downtown. It was just time for me to try my hand with my vision of fashion.”

Indeed the racks are filled with an eclectic gamut from uptown chic to long walks on a stormy beach.

Leah Chitwood said she has filled the store with merchandise that caught her eye during those lunch break forays.

“I still work a full-time job in Atlanta, so Michael does a lot of the leg work,” she said. “I’ll give him an idea of something I like and he will go out and find the right vendors. He also handles all the shipping.”

Love June Boutique is located at 24 E. Church Street, under the Church Street Bridge. Store hours are Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Telephone (678) 719-8891.
