A single family home on Pleasant Valley Road in the northern portion of Bartow County was destroyed by fire Friday afternoon.
Deputy Chief Dwayne Jamison said three engines, a rescue truck, a squad truck and a battalion chief responded to a report of a fire at 308 Pleasant Valley Road around 2 p.m.
“Upon arrival, they encountered a single story, wood frame home fully involved,” Jamison said. “The fire had also spread outside the bounds of the lot and involved a wooded area.”
Several surrounding homes were endangered, but none caught fire, he said.
Jamison said the cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated by the state fire marshall.
